The new exhibit
"Personal Responsibility:
The Camp Photographs of Toyo Miyatake"
will open on Saturday, April 7
at the Eastern California Museum.
Use the controls in the image to explore the new Miyatake exhibit.
The button furthest right will put the view into full page mode.

There will be a brief presentation at 2 p.m., and light refreshments will be served throughout the day. The exhibit consists of more than 60 black and white photos taken in the Manzanar War Relocation Center by Toyo Miyatake.

Before being interned at Manzanar, Miyatake was a well-known and highly respected photographer in Los Angeles. The museum-quality prints were created by Toyo's son, Archie, who took over the Miyatake Studio after his father retired.

The exhibit was funded in 2000 by a California Civil Liberties Public Education Program grant. For more information, call 760-878-0258.
